She was born as Nikolina Konstantinova Dobreva on the 9th of January 1989 in Sofia Bulgaria. She is an American actress and model with Canadian and Bulgarian roots. She was born in Bulgaria and spent less than two years of her life in here, when she was only two, her family moved to Canada. She is fluent in three languages namely French, Bulgarian and English. She has stated in interviews that she is proud of her Bulgarian roots. She is the daughter to Konstantin Dobrev who works as a computer specialist and Mihaela Dobrev who is an Artist. She comes from a family of two with an elder brother Alex Dobrev. She was brought to the limelight after portraying the character of Mia Jones in Degrassi: The Next Generation. This character followed the life of a single teenage mother. She is currently famous for playing Amara and Katherine Pierce in Vampire Diaries. She is also famous for dating her costar in the Vampire diaries: Ian Somerhalder. The two were love birds both in the supernatural series and in real life. The relationship came to an end in May 2013. It is currently rumored that she is dating Liam Hemsworth. Although none of them have confirmed the speculations, the two of them have been sptted acting affectionately with each other in public.
