She was born as Emily Irene Vancamp on the 12th of May 1986 in Port Perry Ontario. She is the daughter to Robert and Cindy Vancamp. She has three sisters two of who are older than her. Alison and Katie are her older sisters while Molly is the youngest member of the family. Her sister Katie who was once a dancer now works as a children’s book author. Her father worked as an animal nutritionist, her first job was working for her father as a food delivery girl. She started dancing when she was only three. She specialized in ballet, hip-hop, jazz and tap. She has stated these dances have helped her perform the action parts in the television series Revenge. Such parts are pure choreography. She claims that she always wanted to be a professional dancer and managed to convince her parents to send her to Montreal to attend a summer training camp. The following year, she was accepted into the Grand Ballet Canadians. She lived with a local family during her stay in Canada. She was raised under the Roman Catholic religion. She is fluent in French and has stated that she feels at home whenever she is in eth presence of French speaking people. She also studied Spanish and she is conversant with the language.
