She was born as Avril Ramona Lavigne on the 27th of September 1984 in Belleville Ontario. She did not spend much of her youth in her home town but in Napanee. She is a French Canadian with a French ancestry from her father’s side and an English, German and Scottish ancestry from her father’s side. Her mother recognized her singing talent when she was only two years old. She used to sing church songs with her mother. Her parents supported her singing career. Her father, who named her Avril borrowed the name from the French spelling the month of April. She is a fashion designer, songwriter and singer. She is the second child to Jean-Claude Joseph and Judith Rosanne fondly known as “Judy”. She has a younger sister named Michelle and an older brother Matthew. When she was only fifteen, she earned herself a stage performance with Shania Twain. She was only sixteen when she signed her first recording contract with Arista Records. This was a two album recording contract. The following year, she was officially immersed in the music industry and her genre of music and style of singing earned her the label of Skater Punk. Although she dropped out of school at the eleventh grade, she is now one of eth most successful personalities in the world.
